Teaching is sooo much fun!
but i've already been here 5 weeks...We get our travel plans today and after that there is basically no time at all before we are off to invite the people of argentina to come unto Christ.
Now the time i know you have all been waiting for ;)
My motto of the week is:
Awake and Arise!
I was studying in 2 Nefi 1 (nephi for americans) and found a verse (v.14) That struck me as profoundly poetic and prophetic. i did a little more digging and compiled these verses into a "poem".
the context is Lehi is on his death bed and is begging his sons to Awake and Arise. This is one of the last things he wishes to tell them. That alone speaks to the importance of this advice.
Here it is.
Awake! and arise from the dust
and hear the words of a trembling parent.
whose limbs ye must soon lay down
in the cold and silent grave,
from whence no traveler can return;
a few more days
and I go the way of all the Earth.
Awake! and arise from the dust,
my sons, and be men.
in one heart and one mind
united in all things
that ye may not be cursed or incur the eternal destruction
of body and soul.
Awake! my sons,
put on the armor of righteousness.
Shake off the chains
with which ye are bound
and come forth out of obscurity
and arise from the dust.
Awake! and arise from the dust.
Elder Siebers (excerpted from 2 Nefi 1)
I know that i need to awake more. For our salvation and our lives here in this life are not simply lives, but preparations for the lives and eternities to come.
Buenos Suerte mis amigos!
Elder Siebers
